Paris in the 1950s

We used to call a mock up of a projected book a “Dummy”. In this sanitized age, it is called a "BLAD", which stands for Basic Layout and Design. It consists of a few chapters that show off what the book is all about. That will probably change, in this wired era, to a PDF of the proposed book. PDF stands for Portable Document Format and if you open this dummy with a click of a computer key, you end up with a digital blad, or dummy. Blad is also slang for blood, and authors and publishers sweat a lot of blood to turn a blad into a sizzling good book, which I try to do.
